Littler

I just looked up whether "littler" was a real word, because my mom just used the word and I told her that it wasn't a real word, lol! And then I told her that it could actually be a word, but it doesn't sound right to me. I got my answer online and from this webpage. I am dumbfounded as to why the word "littler" was on one commenters son's spelling word list!! I can imagine the word being used way back in the 1800's (or earlier) to the first half of the 20th Century. But, I would've thought that it wouldn't be a real word anymore. But, to each their own. Use it if you'd prefer. But, I will remain using what I find to be proper English. That would include the words: smaller, smallest, younger, and youngest. I am going to ask my 13 and 15 year old children whether they learned the word "littler" in school, or do they find it to sound like correct grammar. If "ain't" is a word in the dictionary, as many have stated, then I'm at a loss for words, lol. Have you ever heard the phrase, "Ain't ain't a word,"? "Ain't", "Littler", "Littlest" and other words should be in an English slang dictionary, not the actual dictionary. Just my thoughts on that.
